Protected my neck and ears from sunburn, durable, fits well.
I got this hat for an 18 day sea kayaking trip. I wanted a hat that would stay on my head in brisk winds (it did), kept the sun off my neck and ears (it did), and had a broad enough brim to keep the sun and rain out of my face (it does). The hat survived the trip in great shape. I recommend this hat – seems it does the job and will last a long time.

Great quality and kept my head cool on the inside. Also, I have a fairly large head so finding hats that fit can be difficult. This one fit great! Kept the sun out of my eyes during a three day music festival. I also just wore it all day for yard work. It was a huge benefit. Overall, great purchase!

Went to Jamacia for our honeymoon. I am a very fair skinned individual that does not get along with the sun. This hat tremendously reduced the sun on my face, neck, and upper body. I’m very happy with it. It breathes well and the draw string helps during high wind. This hat, although the first I’ve bought for the beach, makes the high heat much more bearable. I have a shaved head and often feel that I’m cooking in the sun unless wearing this hat.

I waited to review this until I was able to test it under extreme conditions. It passed my tests.
#1- I teach a water aerobics class outdoors in the hot Florida sun. It definitely keeps me much cooler than my baseball cap, while protecting my face and neck. Bonus: it’s waterproof and quick drying.
#2- Hiking in the sun & heat. I wanted to replace my big, heavy hiking hat that protected my head from the sun and heat. Plus, it looks silly on a short person. The Boonie Safari saved me again. It definitely keeps me cooler and protects me from UV damage. Plus, you can adjust the shape of the brim to suit your face. The back of the crown has an adjustable cord so the hat fits comfortably on almost any size head. In extreme heat, drizzle some water over the crown for a cooling treat

After 15 years of Arizona hiking in hot weather and trying at least a dozen different hats, this is the best of the bunch.
10 months later and I can say it is still the best hiking hat I have ever owned. I have worn it on over 150 hikes, many through thick brush in which it takes a beating, and it has gone through hundreds of washings and the hat still performs as new
To keep it from shrinking I wash it with a normal wash then stretch it out over a plastic bowl about the size of my head and it fits perfectly every time.
